Glossary Item Box

The RegServer.exe utility simplifies the server registration as a process. It eliminates the need for command line arguments.
It doesn't support the server registration as a Windows Service. Server registration as a service has to be made as described in the chapter Command Line Arguments.

The DANSrv executable (DANSDrv.exe or DANSrvNet4.exe) registers itself if executed with the appropriate command line arguments.
The RegServer.exe utility only executes the DANSrv executable with the /RegServer argument. It eliminates the need to create a BAT file or shortcut necessary for the specification of command line arguments.

The RegServer.exe utility needs to be in the same directory as the server executable and DLLs.
RegServer.exe also works with the DANSrv executable renamed. It searches for DANSrv executables in the own directory and executes the found executable with the /RegServer command line argument.

If more than one DANSrv executable is found in the directory then a list of the file names is displayed and the user needs to select one.
